Hello,

Does anyone know of a way to read emails you have received from someone on Match without them being notified that you have read it?

Thank you so much in advance!!!

Another option would be to block external images since that is how senders know you have opened their mail, by your email client asking the sender for the images to be displayed in the email.

I copied this out of a help page for Gmail but I'm sure other email clients have a similar setting.

Display images from certain senders

When you receive an email that contains externally linked images, Gmail usually doesn’t display the images automatically. This behavior is designed to help protect your privacy; if we displayed the images automatically, it could potentially allow the sender of the email to see that the images are being fetched, and therefore know when you’ve read their message.

But, if someone you've sent email at least twice sends you a message with images in it, you’ll see the image by default (because the people in this group are likely people you know and trust). We'll only show images in messages that are authenticated, so you won't have to worry about seeing images in messages where the sender's name or address is spoofed. If you’d like, though, you can change your settings so that images from these senders won’t be shown by default either. Here’s how:

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper right, then select Settings.
  2. In the External content section, select Ask before displaying external content.
  3. Click Save Changes.

I remember someone asking this question a while ago.  I'm not sure if it was here or not, but if you use Gmail with your Match account, you can enable Message Sneak Peek in your settings (labs).  It will let you read the message without marking it as read, so the notification shouldn't be sent.
