Roommates - slightly OT

I guess this doesn't really apply to online dating, at least not to my situation anyway, since I've met someone, but I remember a while back there was a discussion about roommates.

Hey, ccsr,
Believe me, I've looked into getting rid of my car and getting an older one.

I was one of the people who got blasted for saying that living with a roommate was a red flag/dealbreaker for me.
Since then, I've changed my tune... or at least altered it. I lived in Boston, too -- Charlestown, Southie, Brookline -- and somehow I'd forgotten the pain of those $1800 rents. If I remember correctly, you are in Middleboro...? And I'm not sure where your job is, but for the 12 years I lived in Boston, I did not have a car -- it was the only way to survive. Insurance alone must be killing you. I found that the subway, or the Purple Line, if it's still called that, take you anywhere you want to go... even to the beach in Gloucester. Maybe that's an option for you?
I digress a bit, but I guess my point is that in places like Boston, or LA, or Chicago, you sometimes HAVE to have a roommate and I apologize for being so harsh about it before. Here in Ohio, if a man in my dating age range (37-50) lives with a roommate, it IS a gigantic red flag.
Good luck, Stacey; I admire your taking the bull by the horns and am sure you'll be successful!

I actually live in Middleton, which is on the North Shore and there is absolutely no public transportation that comes through my town.
