Today I got this big UPS package...I wasn't expecting anything, so of course I was excited to open it. There was a gift card inside that says "Just to see you smile."
and NO SIGNATURE. The gift is this neat glass vase with retro brown and taupe swirls all over it that you pour scented oil in and burn it through this stone on top of it. A unique gift! I LOVE IT!!! Problem is, I have no idea who it's from!!! I told the story to M and he didn't claim it (I wanted it to be from him!) Haha. There are three other guys I am dating but haven't even seen them in weeks, but have talked to them. I just don't know though. I honestly can't figure out who sent me this. I think I'm going to call the company that sent it to find out who bought it for me. There may have been a mistake omitting the name on the card. I don't want to not thank whomever gave it to me! I don't think it's a friend of mine..."Just to see you smile" sounds like something a guy would say. I'm in suspense, I can't wait to find out who it is! It looks like something my sister would get me, but that note is definitely not something she would say to me...lol.

I called the company and the gift was meant to be anonymous and IS from a man. I asked the lady I talked to (who happened to be the owner of the company) if he seemed 'mentally healthy'...LOL...she burst out laughing. She said he did not seem stalkerish at all, and that she was sworn to secrecy about who sent it.
I'm in such suspense because M is the only guy I'm seeing regularly who I could see doing this, but he said he didn't. The other guys are guys I barely talk to (met both through OLD). Although I'm planning to see them this weekend. I'll see one for the first time EVER. and the other for a second time. I don't think it would be either of these guys, just not their style and I don't know them well enough to get gifts in the mail from them. Ack, this is nuts!
I've never been able to deal well with surprises and suspense... :) I hope whoever sent it speaks up SOON
Devorah, I know you are in Texas, so this probably doesn't narrow it down, but are any of these guys big Tim McGraw fans?
Chick
Chick,
Ha! That's exactly what my sister said today. I'm not a fan of Tim McGraw (nor country music for that matter) and neither are any of the guys I'm dating. 'Makes the whole thing even weirder. (Not everyone in TX likes country! ;)
This was M's response to the update today (and he sure was inquiring, "did you find out who my competition is?"-ha)
"Thats wierd - very wierd. I wouldn't worry too much until we find out who it is. Maybe you need to sleep here more often - just to stay safe :)"
Aww, he used the word WE about us for the first time. How sweet. Strange circumstances, but sweet.
Anyway, whoever sent this is a complete lunatic if he doesn't speak up in the next day or so.
Devorah
That woudl make me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! Not to know!
& it IS funny how M reacted! Wouldnt it be weird if this gift from another man put him over teh committment edge? Hey! Maybe I oughtta send MYSELF something & ask Carlos about it! roflamo
KEEP US UPDATED!
She finally told me who it was...My X sent it to me, which baffles me. He and I broke up 4 years ago. He's married! I've talked to him a handful of times as a friend this year...he's having trouble in his marriage. Our convos are always strictly friend oriented. He knows about the guys I'm dating, etc. He did call me the day I got it in the mail, but we talked for about 25 mins about the problem he's having with his wife. I told him I got this anonymous gift and he laughed it off with me. I joked and asked if it was from him (I was 100% confident it wsn't)- He said, "You know I wouldn't buy a gift for anyone but my wife". Apparently he has no intention of telling me it was him. I'm definitely weirded out. I'm disappointed because I thought it was clear we were just chatting as friends. He's married for goodness sake. I'm SO uncomfortable about this.
If only the gift was from M or ANY one of my Online dating guys! Geez
Sounds like you need to stop talking to the ex.
Sheri
Seems to me that if your ex really didn't want you to know about it, then he probably wasn't doing it to communicate with you. It looks like a ritual for himself, perhaps to symbolically hit out at his current wife.
I would act like I didn't know, and just never mention it again to the ex.
It is a little weird, but at least you got to pique M's interest a little. ;)
Elsa
I couldn't agree with you more.

Hi Devorah,
Well, obviously your ex has issues. My point was that since he's denied he sent the flowers and he swore the florist to secrecy, maybe the flowers had less to do with you than whatever he is trying to work out inside his confused head. I entirely agree that steering clear of him is the way to go.
As for "M," I was just commenting that at least the flowers may have made him think about how he might feel if someone else was paying attention to you. It was a, "this cloud may have a silver lining" comment, not a suggestion that you should use the incident in some way with "M."
Sorry if it came across the wrong way.
