Should I contact him question

Not really OLD, but a guy I went to school with.

Was looking through my emails today and came across one of his from almost three years ago. Anyway, I'd really like to email him and see what he's up to...mostly because he's in the same branch of service as my brother, and I've always wondered where he went after college. We never dated, and I don't have that interest now, just idle curiosity. Would you be weirded out to get a "Hi, just checking in," email?

If he's just a friend and that's all you want? no. I actually smile when old friends contact me! :o)

I agree with kerry but you should make your intentions clear so that he does not misunderstand.
I think it is normal between friends to send emails after a long period of no communication.

Yeah, it's totally platonic. Like I said (I think, lol), he and my brother are in the same military service, so I'm curious as to what happened to him. I'm curious as to what happened to a lot of my friends from college, but especially him.

I actually ran into him in a bar about a year after we graduated (funny, because neither of us lived there anymore) and he gave me his email...I guess it's ok then?
