should I give my phone # or not?

I'm going to meet a guy I chatted with online today, unless he changes his plans, probably won't but you never know. He says he doesn't like making plans too far ahead and last night we decided to meet for coffee today. He said he could give me his cell phone # if I wanted to talk first but it's long distance and I decided not to, just wait to meet.
I just don't know if I should give him my home phone # if he asks.(I don't have a cell phone) I suppose it depends on how we get along during the meet, but I just don't know if it's a good idea to give my phone # this soon. How do you know when you should or shouldn't? Is it just how I feel about him and the whole meeting situation?

Since you already have plans to meet today don't worry about it - if it goes well then you decide how you feel. Go with your gut and first impression.
The downside, what if he doesn't show up or you don't recognize you're date and it's a crowded place or he's stuck in trraffic or something happens and he can't call to say he's 30 minutes late? But hopefully that won't happen.
Personally I prefer to talk first. I've decided NOT to meet quite a few men based on that first phone call. For me, personality and how we click is HUGE. I want someone with the same attitude i have, who's interesting, fun and a good conversationalist. I've talked to men who had a mono tone, sounded like minnie mouse, stuttered - list goes on but that's food for thought for the future if you decide OLD is for you. Too bad you can't get a cell phone this is where they come in handly. I've been dating for years on and off from OLD and never had problems with anyone abusing my phone after as far as my not being interested and them harrassing me.
Either way, GOOD LUCK TODAY and give us a full report - can't wait to hear - hopefully you'll have a love match :-)
Cheers,
