Should I have expectations?
| Sun, 02-05-2012 - 10:15pm |
The guy that I had expressed interest in on an online dating website moved to a different city. We have talked on the phone only once. We have never met.
Am I right to expect him to call me once a week, if not more, so that we can get to know each other?
Yes, you should expect to never hear from him again.
There is no such thing as having the right to expect to hear from a guy once a week.
It's almost 2 weeks now. Is there hope?
I agree with you that I can't expect him to say/do something that I want.
As for requesting him, I'd rather not. I like men chasing me and I don't want to give him the impression that I'm head over heals just after 1 phone conversation. I will discuss it with him if he brings up the topic.
Doing just that.
My anxiety level has come down by a few points though.
So glad that we have ivillage otherwise I would've gone crazy.
I don't think you can expect anything from somebody you don't know.

He moved to a city that is 3 hours away.
I don't mind getting into *this* LDR because it's not that far. I don't see the 3 hour commute an issue to visit the other person if you really like him/her.
BUT, I also agree that LDR cannot work if there there is no/minimal communication.
I can't tell him what I want because I don't know if he likes me or not. To think of it, he would be calling me if he liked me enough.
Should I let this one go? :(
The answers to these questions are vital. You barely know him do you really want the hassles that come from being in different cities?
As for expectations... You can only expect from yourself and not anyone else.

I don't think you can "expect" someone you don't know to act in a certain way just because you want him to.
