i know it sounds silly since anyone on a dating site can't judge anyone else on one, but.. i want to try it but am afraid someone i know will see me there.

has this happened to anybody? and are there any sites that are better about those people who want to stay under the radar?

I understand what you been about being worried that people will recognize you. But I really don't think there is a stigma anymore against OLD anymore because soooo many people try it. Really it is just a good way to put yourself out there and also see what else is out there. If you would like to stay under the radar I would recommend E-Harmony. While you won't have as many to choose from, not as many people know you are on there. With E-Harmony you cannot search through peoples profile you only get sent the ones that match up with you, likewise no one can search for you either. However if you live in more of a small town the selection might me limited. I did one time get matched up with someone I went to high school with which was kinda wierd (we never communicated and I don't even know if he knew it was me or not).

Sometimes though it can be kinda nice to talk with other people about OLD. On a couple of occasions I have been communicating with guys and it turned out we had mutual friends. This was actually a good thing because you can find out more about the person and feel more comfortable knowing they are a good guy or not.

Good luck if you try it! :)
