Someone messing w/you on match?

Do you think you've ever had someone put up a fake profile and try to get info out of you i.e. ex boyfriend etc?

Once someone took my pictures and created a fake profile - the only reason I found out is because some guy asked me if I was divorced in Manhattan Beach or never married in Santa Monica - immediately I called match and they took down the profile but boy I felt really violated.

This weekend I had a date on Friday - this is a guy who wrote me over a month ago, I gave him my number. He wrote me and said he had a minor surgery (why he hadn't contacted me) and asked if you he could call, I said yes. Then he was off to Paris so he said he'd call me when he returned. He then wrote asking me to meet him - I said I preferred a phone convo first. So he called and he seemed to talk like he was reading off a cue card, my name is so and so and I like long walks on the beach that type of thing and I cut him off and said you seem nice lets just meet as it boils down to chemistry. We originally had Thursday scheduled then he wrote asking for Friday for a drink so I agreed, he confirmed on email the night before saying I'll see you at the bar at 9:00, location etc.

Well, I was stood up - yeah, all the guys at the bar I was talking to were like whoever did this was an idiot although that was sweet - I hated the fact I had to rush home from my personal training session to meet no one, spend money on valet and buy myself a very expensive martini, LOL!! At the bar I called and left my number - this was supposedly his work line or only line and he has some website that looks fake (under construction) with the same number.

The next day he writes me on match and mind you his profile was HIDDEN the past month as he said he preferred to pick his own women and the next day it was viewable and everything he wrote reminded me of some guy in Laguna I had a date with I wasn't interested in (he even called me 3 times after our brief date, didn't leave a message) I got a weird vibe from him.

Nonetheless he writes me saying he was in a car accident, car totaled, lost his cell phone, just checked out of UCLA medical and was at his parents house. Ok, he has time to go on match and UNHIDE his profile then write me instead of calling? He had my number from a month ago and match saves emails so he had the number...give me a break!

OK, the odd's of this happening on his way to our date "c'mon"....first the minor surgery then Paris then this??? I told him I thought he was not telling the truth, this was a set up and good luck in life.

I truly believe some guy I wasn't into set me up and wanted to stand me up again by going for a round two?

Anyhow, had to share, curious of anyone out there ever experience this on line? I could be wrong and I would feel bad if I was but I don't think so...I had to shoot from this hip on this one...a little bizarre!

This actually really seemed like a setup. It might have been some "rejected suitor" who wanted revenge, or something. To avoid such valet fees, maybe it makes sense to arrange to meet at Starbucks, and then go from there...

Thanks. I do Starbucks or Coffee shops in general on occasion. I date so much that it gets old after a while so I like to mix it up. Most of my dates suggest dinner or drinks on the first meet - depending on the "vibe" and what I have going on "if not much of anything" I take a chance and go and have some fun even if it turns out we're not a match. If I'm pressed for time or not sure then coffee - this guy I had nothing going on so I figured why not. Friday was a fluke - guess that is part of doing OLD once in a while you might have some reject messing with you. Oh well, par for the course baby!! ;-)
