Speaking of Texters

I've said in other threads that I refuse to communicate with men I don't know through texting and I think it's lazy and a way to keep someone at arm's length.

Last Fall I communicated with two men who both had the dominant texting gene. One did call me once and we agreed to get together. He said he was going on vacation and he'd call whe he returned.

So I got a text a week or so after

I think it depends on how old you are--my 20 yr old DD could send 1500 TMs in a month easily. For younger people, texting is just normal. I am the opposite--I don't think texting is intimate at all--I think a phone call is much more intimate. I just wonder--w/ all these rules, do you have dates? If it's working for you, I say go for it, but to dismiss a guy who might otherwise be nice just because he sends you a text seems kind of harsh to me. I do agree w/ mr-te though. If you have told someone you don't like to text & he continues to do it, then it just means that he doesn't listen to you, so why do you want to be w/ someone like that?

IMAO There has been a paradigm shift in communications! Texting is the modern way of communication. If you dis like it just tell him your phone does not have texting capability or you turned it off to save money!
AS far as being cheap have you seen what the cost is? I myself do not like testing mainly because my cell is never on! I use it for emergencies!! So it may be a month or more before i would even see it!

I appreciate everyone's feedback here.

Music and Mark, you gave me some good food for thought...so much that I decided to answer the text. Which led to several more, a phone conversation (his idea not mine, yea progress!) and an invitation to meet for coffee.

I happen to be out of town at a conference right now; he is leaving town the day I return. We have set a date a week from now and he is going to call me that day to confirm.

I guess I can give texting a try in limited doses. Thanks for the encouragement.

My cousin is only 40 but was really resistant to getting a cell phone--frankly I don't know how she could live w/o one, but anyway she was starting to try OLD, got a voicemail from a guy and didn't answer for a month, cause she never checks her messages! It's amazing that the guy still wanted to go out.
