Just to keep some balance on the board, would those of you who have Online Dating success stories be so kind as to share them?

I am one who has always hated those e-harmony commercials in that I feel they make it sound like anyone who joins their website is going to find their man or woman of their dreams. I would be curious as to the percentage of people who actually meet and stay together long- term or get married via e-harmony. I've often said that the commercials aren't going to mention how many disappointments/failures have transpired with people who meet through their website. Of course, there are no guarantees in life when it comes to dating, either with or without a dating site. I just wish there was a way to avoid all the hurts & disappointments of online dating and make it easier for people somehow. It is very uplifting to hear when it does work out for those who persevere with it though.

I agree. Sometimes you need to break the rules. You can't always plan your life around certain socially excepted rules and so on. You can try to say you'll wait certain amounts of time, but when you know you know. This makes me think of the quote "If you want to hear God laugh, tell him your plans." OLD is a lot of chance and fate and all that stuff, or atleast I think so. If I didn't break a few rules I wouldn't have the happiness that I have now. :)

I'm in a relationship with a man that I met online more than a year ago. He's an amazing person. We've been dating for 15 months, and when my friends ask, "How's it going with Dave?" I reply "I have no complaints" everytime. (I think they're getting a little bored with that answer :)

I think the key to successful online dating (or any dating for that matter), is to follow your gut, no matter what it tells you.
