I have noticed that quite a few of us on this board are teachers. Many of us complain that the reason we do OLD is because our profession is not very conducive to meeting men.

Anyone ever worry that coworkers or god forbid, students, will find our profiles?

Why aren't there any dating services for teachers?

Why do men think teacher=boring school marm?

Teachers boring? Yeah, there are some. They discuss students over lunch, at parties, and even in the halls. But the rest of us have a life.

Some of us even have a *secret* life. That's what I call it anyway. But I wrote a novel about a teacher with a secret life. My actual secret life is there on my website for everyone to gawk at, even though I hope they're laughing with me, seeing themselves in some of those same predicaments.

The thing is that I'm anonymous on my own website, whereas you're right--students could get on my dating site and look me up. Yeah, I'm cringing just contemplating the horror. But would they? I suppose they could for a laugh, but they're probably not interested, being teenagers.

Heck, they're even more self-involved than I am!

I'm lucky I teach little ones, but if I taught HS I would be a little worried.

I sometimes wonder if men see "teacher" on my profile and assume a)I have no money b)I have no life c)I REALLY have no money or d)I will correct their grammar (I won't correct it in front of them, I will just be cringing in my head).

I'm on Match and not having much luck. On OKCupid and getting men who are NOT reading the profile. Any other sites out there for a poor (teacher, ya know) single mom?

God forbid any of those people find out that you're (GASP) single!

You have to imagine me rolling my eyes here.

Sheesh. People will treat you being single however shameful as YOU treat it. Apparently, you are embarrassed at the notion of your students or coworkers knowing that you're single and dating.

Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but the odds are... (whispering)... they already know.

I dunno, I had huge crushes on at least a couple of teachers. Later in my life, when I *dated* a couple of teachers, I found out that at least some of them weren't boring at all. ;)
