This is a bit OT, but not terribly so.

Go for it. I uprooted my daughter in seventh grade, and while it wasn't great for her socially, academically it has been fantastic for her. She starts high school in the fall and is looking forward to it.

I was just in NC on Monday, looking at a college with my son. The school was INCREDIBLE. The NC state system is awesome. Heck, I was willing to move there myself.

I'm in CT, outside NYC. While the population here is huge, the men are sooooo picky that an average looking/weight 45 year old woman with two kids is soooo not what the men want. They want Barbie Dolls who look like they're 24. It's very discouraging.

Again, I say, go for it.

If you've always wanted to go back, and have no ties in New York, why NOT move?

Do it. It's better for your daughter to be uprooted now rather than in high school. I was uprooted many a time and either got over it or totally ended up loving the new place. Even when I didn't love it, it made me a stronger person having to deal with schools I didn't like. Plus, you are right. If momma's not happy, then momma needs to move, lol. Nothing wrong at all with moving to a new place because the dating is better there. It really does make a difference where you live.
