Do you use the same username? The same spiel? I know the basics will still be the same, but do you reformat what you have to say in a different way? Or just copy and paste?

I use the same or a similar name (the same name isn't available on all sites), and the same profile. I like seeing consistency when I see guys' profiles on several sites, so I do the same.

What would changing the profile do?

The only one I changed significanly was my equestriansingles profile. I tailored it more to horsey guys - the lingo is something that guys on generic sites wouldn't understand.

Edited to add an example: If I say I've whipped in, I could get some really nasty emails from Match, but a rider will know what that means. LOL

Well I......not being privy to horses...I would think it would be someone who wants to be whipped.

That digital technology is really hot right now. I understand it takes great pictures - and when doing animals, especially large animals, it's a PITA to get clear shots sometimes.

Those horses were probably mostly stallions - and VERY fit athletes - so they aren't mean, just...errrr...expressive? LOL

A whipper in (whip for short) helps the Master of Hounds when foxhunting by riding ahead, keeping an eye on hounds and fox, and literally whipping in the hounds when they run riot. (No, they don't ever get touched by the lash - it's the popping sound of the cracker that they respond to). The term got picked up in politics -so in the old days, someone like Roy Blunt (current majority whip) would literally herd the reps onto the Floor. I think it's more now a job of whipping them onto the party line.

Way TMI, I know, but if you're ever on Jeopardy, it might come in handy. LOL

I am on Match and Yahoo (inactive right now) and have typed up profiles for a few other assorted sites (sorry, I don't keep very good records, so I'm not even sure which ones, or I would tell you!). As Sisfox (I think) pointed out, sometimes you are on a site with specific appeal, so you want to tailor what you say about yourself to address that group. Otherwise, I just happen to like to be creative. As a would-be writer, I know that there are many ways to express the same idea, and I know (from hearing writers talk) that you never reach that "perfect" draft. So maybe on Yahoo I write something I think is terrific. Two months later I join another site and type up something different. I'm not being a different person, I just am trying to express myself a different way.

BTW here is a hint: If you type up something that you think sounds good, print it out before you send it. I was trying to join a special-interest site, and typed, off the cuff, a description of myself which sounded quite good to me. I submitted it, and then the screen announced that the site was no longer in service--and my oh-so-clever profile had disappeared!
