too forward?

It would be too forward to ask a guy if he'd like to watch a movie at his place if I was the one to get the movie, wouldn't it? It's a guy that I previously met from online and we've been chatting and emailing and he asked me over to his place once but I couldn't go. I don't even know if I could actually ask him but it probably wouldn't be the right thing to do anyway.

It's not a matter of "too forward", it's a matter of you not recognizing that this guy is just not all that interested in you!!!!
Stop beating your head against the wall and move on from him! If I'm wrong (it's certainly possible ;-)), then he will ask you OUT on an ACTUAL DATE (not to go over to his house). You don't have to do anything.

Going to his place is a date for sex, not a plan to create a relationship.
Yes, it is too forward. Yes, he is "not that into you" since he hasn't bothered to ask you out again and didn't offer an alternative when you couldn't go to his house the last time. Yes, he was probably looking for sex when he asked you over to his house the last time. Yes, if you invite yourself over there, he will probably get the idea that you will be open to just sex and will probably pressure you for it.
So all in all, do not invite yourself over. If he wants to go out with you again, he'll ask you and whatever you do, do NOT go to his house for (what it sounds like) a second date!
