Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! I have been chatting and talking with this person I met on Tag, problem is he lives in Atlanta I live in Boston, he says that he would like for me to come for a weekend, and that I can sleep in his bedroom and he'll take the guest room. I need advice how do I meet him or maybe I can go and stay in a motel or something incase things don't work I don't know anyone in Atlanta.

Any advice I was thinking maybe the 3rd week in June give us more time to get to know each other.

I agree with the others. Going to Atlanta is a huge risk and it makes more sense for him to come to you.

What I disagree with the others is shutting it down because he doesn't live close. I've met some amazing men over the course of my OLD history who lived in other states. Some are still friends to date. OLD opens up to new possibilities and allows us to widen the scope of dating options. There are lots of success stories of OLD beginning in separate states.

Good luck, be safe and follow your heart!

I am wondering where you went to? I used to lurk on this board a lot.

Uhmmm.... if he wants to meet you, he should come to Boston and stay in a hotel.

He's a STRANGER...don't stay at his place, don't have him stay at yours. Doesn't matter how much you talk or chat.... you don't know him!

Aren't there lots of eligible, single guys who already live in Boston??

keep yourself safe,

What would be the point of meeting someone who doesn't live near you?

If you do decide to meet him, definitely stay in a hotel. You don't know anything about him, plus staying at his house is far too intimate for a first meeting, IMO.

I've never had a long-distance situation myself, but from everything I've heard and read, it's very challenging to begin a relationship as long-distance, not to mention maintaining one. (OK, and I know I will hear from people on the board who will say it worked out for them, but I think it is the exception).

Why can't he come to Boston (and stay in a hotel)? Even if he offers to send you a plane ticket and pay for your hotel, I think it's better if he travels to you for a first meeting.
