Somebody stop me...I *know* not to get excited about a guy before meeting, I KNOW this...but there's a guy who's emailing me now who seems right up my alley and I find myself getting WAY too excited about getting his emails (we just started corresponding yesterday and there have only been 3). We're supposed to talk on the phone tonight and I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Ugh. I'm glad to have a "good" prospect, but from experience I'm thinking it's just a matter of time before he either rejects me or I realize there's some dealbreaker involved.

Thanks--I know you're right, I just don't WANT it to be that way, wah, wah, wah!

I appreciate the crossed fingers and I'll keep you all posted...

Ok...after two more far longer than they should have been phone calls last night and tonight, we have decided for sure we are meeting tomorrow evening. Wish me luck!!! We have both confessed to being very excited about meeting each other, and we both have said that we don't normally have such great, long conversations with people prior to meeting. I hope that bodes well for a good meet (that we can talk so easily) but I know from experience it's not a guarantee by any means. We even got into politics and religion tonight and survived, LOL!

Well, I'm just back from my meet...I broke my usual rule and met him for dinner (we were trying for coffee but with our respective work schedules we would have had to wait until tomorrow and we didn't want to wait that long, LOL!), but it was fine...more than fine. We were both kind of nervous at first but that passed and we had no problem talking for 2 hours straight. I'm not quite sure about how strong the physical attraction is on my part, but I wasn't *unattracted*...and I've gotten into trouble whenever I've had that really strong attraction in the past, so maybe this is better. Who knows, I guess time will tell, right ;-)?

Anyway, he says he'll call tomorrow and we agreed we wanted to do it again...I don't *think* he'll ghost on me, but stranger things have happened.

Thanks, SP and BC...well, he just called and we are meeting for coffee and dessert and to hear some jazz tonight (we are both big fans of jazz). I know, 2 nights in a row, it's crazy ;-). But I'm really feeling much more grounded about this than I was before we met so I think I'll be ok.

And I've got a tentative 3rd date with another guy this coming week so I'm not going to put all my proverbial eggs in this basket!

Well, scratch that. He just cancelled on me, saying he thought better of going out tonight because he's doing a big bike ride tomorrow and needs to get some rest. I'm not sure how an hour or two of going to hear music would interfere with that, exactly, but whatever.

He did apologize but I'm none too happy. I'm not sure I buy it...sounds like maybe he got a better offer.

I hate dating!!!!

Sorry to hear that, Sheri. Crud!!

But hmmmm, should we give him credit for coming up with a semi-plausible excuse? I mean, maybe his *concern* was that you'd have a fabulous time together, your evening extending into the wee hours- which could, logically, hamper his race performance the next day?

His excuse sure beats the one I got a few years back. I was getting an intricate picnic put together when the guy called to cancel, literally an hour before the date. The excuse? He remembered that he needed to be home for a palm tree delivery that day.

Nice.
