An update for anyone who's interested...

I had date #4 with Amazon guy Wed night...it was good but not great. I just didn't get the sense that he was as interested as he had been...and he hasn't called since, so that may be that. We'll see. I know he had his son this weekend but he could have at least called, ya know??
I was supposed to have coffee with someone new yesterday; he called yesterday and rescheduled to today, but then never followed up. Flake!
So I was bored today and decided to put an ad up on Craig's List. I can't believe how many responses I've gotten (and no unit pictures yet, thank goodness, LOL)! I already met one guy for coffee this afternoon and another guy is supposed to call tonight. The guy this afternoon was nice, I liked him. I'd actually seen and liked his ad on some of the other sites before but we'd never connected for some reason. He says he wants to get together again and that he'll call...we shall see.

I was going to ask (last night) how things were going, but didn't want to be too nosy...lol.
I've been wondering about Craigslist. The ads in my area seem really focused on sex and one night stands.

Same here. But Sheri's post makes me think it's worth a shot. I recently reactivated my match profile and the pickings have been quite slim, so I may cancel it altogether pretty soon (it automatically renews mid-December, which I just realized is not that far away).
That's cool about the coffee guy you liked!
I'm sorry to hear that it sounds like things are cooling off with the other guy but maybe he could sense your hesitation or felt some too since he's moving away. Who knows? And then sorry you had a flake! I hate that.
But anyway, congrats on the successful craigslist meet so far and the potential for the future. It does seem like we've had some success stories from there. I've been considering it since I have canceled my Match subscription again and the eHarmony thing is already boring me between the latest no spark guy and the guy that chased me down and then said he'd met someone else less than a week later. Craigslist might be worth a shot. Would you mind if I asked you what you said in your ad? I also want to avoid all the "intimate encounters" and ones looking for sex only.
Oh, there definitely are a lot of those!
One thing that was interesting to do last night was go through the "casual encounters" section...I found that several of the guys who had responded to my ad (which was not in that section ;-)) had sex-focused ads up (not the guy I met or the one I'm supposed to meet tonight, thankfully). So you really need to be on your toes...their responses to me weren't out of line in any way, but it's good to know where their heads are at and know not to take it any further with those guys.
The other thing I find difficult about CL is that you have NO information to go on when people respond to you...no basics like age, etc that you'd find in a dating profile on one of the other sites (unless they write it in their email). So you have to start from scratch asking all of those questions.
Vex, my ad was similar to what I have up on Yahoo and the other sites. I thought about putting in a line like "no weenie pictures" ;-), but I decided not to, LOL.

Sheri -
Glad to see you're back at the plate; here's hoping the pitches get better...!!
Does Craig's List not have pics, either? (i.e., cgun, how could Ricky UNKNOWINGLY contact you...?)
Tracy
Thanks Tracy...we shall see! The guy I'm having coffee with tonight looks cute in his pic and seems nice over the phone but ya never know!
You *can* post a pic on CL but most people don't, because CL is notorious for people emailing you out of the blue and saying things like "you're ugly". Who needs that, right??? Most people trade pics by email on CL. "Pic for pic" is a much used phrase ;-).
Sheri
Seems your keeping your sense of humor and staying positive -- good to read. Glad Craig's List is working for you!
Small Peanut
Well, like Sheri said, most people don't post pics because if you do, then you could be a target for being picked on in the Rants and Raves section.
