Update on "Do OLD & IM'ing mix well?"

Yeah, so it turns out he didn't call me since we exchanged numbers on Saturday but I signed on today on instant messenger and he greets me with a little wink emoticon. So I ask him what's up and there's no mention of the fact that I was expecting him to call me. He asks me what I'm up to and I just tell him I'm preparing for an interview tomorrow and he chats with me a bit more. He asks me what time I have the interview tomorrow though I have no idea why he's asking so I tell him that I have something else I have to take care of before that at my college, which I do. He wishes me luck, etc. and he says he has to go to work since he works evenings and all so I tell him I guess I'll talk to him some other time and he says, let's hope so. Let's hope so? What in the world does that mean? What in the world is he bothering me for if he didn't call me in the three days he's had my number? That's what I want to know. Yep, sounds like he's firmly in the "chat but never meet" club. This is part of the reason I don't IM with potential dates, because now you have to do something so that you don't show up as "online" to him so he stops bothering you (because otherwise he'll just keep chatting and not calling). What a pain. At least if you were just emailing, you wouldn't have to do anything, you could just ignore him.

I know, I don't get it either!!! I couldn't believe it the first couple times it happened, but there definitely are men out there who just want to chat, for whatever reason.
I'm with you on the break thing...every time I think about un-hiding my profiles and putting myself back out there, I get all stressed out because I just don't want to deal with the BS right now.

But they've made it so easy for us nowadays: Right click, BLOCK!
hehe
I do see your point though... once ya get on IM, with some people it's hard to move it back to the real world again.
