I doubt he would be paying for you if he just thought of you as a platonic friend.
Why are your dates so infrequent? You only go out every other week or so? In any event, since you've only had 4 dates, I wouldn't worry or bring anything up yet. I would be a little more touchy on the next date however (i.e., touch him deliberately on the arm when you're talking, etc) and see what happens over the next date or two.
I would advise against discussing it yet...take sheri's advice, become a little more physical. Some guys are so scared these days, they won't make a move until they feel pretty safe!!
yes, I read it. And found some similarities. But I prefer a man to be aggressive in the physical aspect. Oh well.
Our dates are a bit infrequent b/c he is just finishing building a house, so he has been tied up with that, and he is a single dad, as I am a single mom, so getting together can be a bit of a struggle. But we do manage to keep in contact.
Is this the same guy that took you to a party where the other chick was all over him??
If so, possibly he is just enjoying your company and cultivating the friendship. Again if it's the same guy I would think it best you would want to take things slow so you know for sure he is really into you. He is obviously use to aggressive women, so I wouldn't take that approach. Let him make the moves!!

I'm glad your having a nice experience with your new fellow. Did you read the "manwhoneedshelp" posted here on Nov. 1?
