I live in Hawaii and I get a fair amount of email from men from other states and even other countries that will be visiting the islands and want to strike up a conversation. So far I have never answered any of them. It seems to me that I would be at best a tour guide and at worst, well there seems to be a lot of possibilites for worse. But, some of them are intriguing. Should I answer the ones that interest me or keep to my policy of locals only?

If you are willing to accept that these men are looking for a sex only type of relationship then go for it. I would be a bit afraid because some of these men may be married and will lie about that. I guess what I am suggesting is if you are looking for a long term relationship then avoid these men.

Sometimes it might be fun to be a tour guide or just have a nice dinner out--it depends on what you are up for. I do think that you would definitely have to take precautions in this case, but if you stick to meeting in a public place and do something like going to the beach or going out for dinner/dancing, I think it could be fun, if you are only looking at it like you'll have a fun night out. I would let the guy know in advance that you'll only be going on a date & not going to his hotel room, etc. I do think I would only do this if the guy had another reason to go there & was not going just to see you--then it kind of obligates you more or he might get mad if you didn't want to spend too much time w/ him.

I guess if you have the time to date both locals and tourists, there wouldn't be any harm.

But it might be hard to sort out the guys who want a hook up and they guys who might truly just be interested in a companion during their visit.

Might be fun to have some dates for fun or practice.
