Weird first *date* - need opinion!!

I met someone on line and met him for the first time the other night. We had dinner and split the bill which is fine by me. BUT! After paying up, he grabbed the recipt and put it in his wallet! I was feeling like I had nothing to lose so I said "Wha? Are you going to write this dinner off on your taxes?" to which he responded "Well yeah. We talked about business...".
True, we did talk about work etc. but IS THIS WEIRD FOR A FIRST DATE? Was it even a date or just a "meeting"? I've agreed to go out with him again (he asked) but if he does this recipt/tax-write-off thing again I'm afraid I'm going to lose it! Am I nuts?

No, you're not nuts. If it were me, I would have asked him for the receipt so I could write it off! LOL. The guy sounds a bit too chincy. If the good outweighs the bad, then keep moving forward. But if it doesn't and you're not comfortable with him, I would say kick him to the curb before it gets too involved.

I just can't even believe this guy...so absurd that it's funny.
Hold on a minute.. We're missing the fact that this was a DATE, MEETING, whatever.. but it was a first encounter with a stranger with whom each person is seeing if there is any attraction.. right?? Well, why on earth would anyone think it was in good taste to 'write off' his date which didn't even consist of ALL of his money!??! You went dutch right? so, he writes it off AND gets credit for half of your money! WHATEVER!
That move right there would be a dealbreaker for me.
NEXT!

That is definitely weird. Dealbreaker? maybe, maybe not depending on how the rest of the meet went. That's your call.
Ok, maybe it's because I'm a lawyer and self-employed and have a pretty good sense of what is legal to deduct and what isn't (and I did mention this to the OP on another board)...but isn't anyone else bothered by his lack of ethics???? Talking about business for a few minutes does NOT make a meal deductible, in and of itself.
I would ding him for being a tax cheat, personally.

That is very odd. We can deduct sales tax in my state (we don't have state income tax) so I am a receipt Nazi, but there are some times I'll let a receipt go. A date is one of those times.
Besides, that's pretty shady, tax wise. You don't want to get involved with someone like that.
You're right and I agree.
