I don't know what I should do. There's somebody on lemontonic that's from my area and we emailed a couple of times. He works at a local service station and a member from my family knows of them but not much, I guess. But they tell me "no, you shouldn't meet with him". No reason given, but it makes me wonder whether I should meet him or not. What would you do?

I would ask what they know about him and why they say - don't meet.

Well, do you think this family member has good judgement? Maybe they're just being polite in not telling you the reason.

In any case, I'd have to go with not meeting him unless you know the person saying "no" is a complete loony or something.

I found out that they don't know him, they think they know a relative of his and don't like the relative. It has nothing to do with the guy I'm emailing so I'll just continue for now. He never mentioned meeting again, as of yet, so I'll wait and see what happens.

Well, I wouldn't do the "endless email" thing with him...isn't that what got you into trouble last time (getting too attached before you ever even met?)? If you have decided you want to meet him, I'd email him with your phone number (assuming you have phone other than your home phone that you use for dating) and ask him to call you so you can talk on the phone and see if it makes sense to meet for a cup of coffee.

Oh, I'm not going to keep emailing for long. As for the phone, I don't have another phone # to use so I'll have to skip that part and just meet for a coffee if it comes to that.
