Wow! Can't believe some guys are so bold and ballsy like that!! I personally would have hit delete myself. At least he could have been smooth about it and find out what kind of person you are. Wonder how many of those emails he sent out to women in your area? :)

If he was physically attractive, I would have replied and said "sure, I would love to go, so let's chat and meet before then to be sure."

When you do OLD, sometimes, you just want to try or do something different. I didn't have a problem with his email.

I would be suspicious and cautious for sure (expecting a weirdo), but I might have emailed back out of curiosity.

Jeez, it's all or nothing sometimes. These guys either avoid actually meeting in person, or BAM - they want to see you right away. LOL

Jodie,
We should get a group of gals together and all show up over there on the 17th claiming to have received the invitation. Wouldn't he be shocked? LMAO!!

Ok, so it's a little too impersonal I think -- but I do like the general idea, really.

I like it because it does a good job of deflating the early pressure that is normally associated with a first date. You can go in thinking, "I'm just his date for the evening, so I'll have fun and enjoy myself without worrying about every little thing". Then, during the date, you might actually discover you like the guy. Could be that's what this guy is going for.

Anyway, there have been times when I really wished I had a date on my arm for certain company functions, just so I wasn't the odd man out.
