ok, last time I posted I was worried about why after I went out with a guy I really liked we have only been pen pals and then I finally quit worrying about it so he sent me an email saying he would like to hang out sometime but doesn't want to plan anything just wants to play it by ear.

It may be this weird unless you create your own standards for what you will and will not stand for in dating, and stick to them.

These are mine--

--If someone won't call me on the phone and ask for a real date, I won't meet him.

--I don't give men my personal e-mail until we're 'dating' and I feel I know him a little better.

--I don't respond to text messages for dating invitations

I totally agree to your standards.

I want to add that for me as a man that:

- My initial email contact with a woman will explain why I wanted to contact her and why I want to get to know her more by noting our similar interests or life situation or more importantly, life outlook (if she implies that or posts that explicitly).

- I won't carry on an email exchange more than

I wish all guys would follow your first statement. I always wonder if I get an email from someone that just says "hi"--I wouldn't even bother to respond to that one. It just shows the person can't make any effort.

I agree. There is NO reason to have a million texts b/w you & some guy you've never even met IRL, & my rule was about 4-5 emails, over no more than 2 weeks (usually a week) without them asking me out. I wasnt looking for a pen pal. I was looking for a date!
