What's the deal?

Alright. Here's the situation.
Joined an OLD site and started emailing a guy. Talked with him on the phone before I went out of state for the holidays. Now I'm back, and we talked on the phone again tonight. It went great again (in my opinion.) But, he didn't ask to meet! There was a moment at the end of the convo where I thought he'd mention it, but he didn't.
He knows I'm looking for a new church and has mentioned his many times. He also asked me twice in two different emails when I'd be back in the state.
The only reason I'm thinking why he hasn't suggested meeting is because he seems kind of shy and secondly, he knows I'm cautious about meeting people off the internet. Maybe he doesn't want to scare me?
Should I just take the bull by the horns and suggest briefly meeting?
Any thoughts? :S

Yes...in that situation, the next time you talk, if he's not asking, I'd say something like, so do you want to get a cup of coffee sometime?

Ha! I sent an email right before I read your replies. I see no point in waiting any longer, as you've said. Maybe I'm a dork, but it'd be nice if he'd just do it. I've initiated the idea of the phone convos, and now this. But once we started talking on the phone he was all into it, so that's a good sign.
I'm learning so much! :P
