Who's viewed me? Now on Yahoo!

I just received an email from Yahoo! stating that "Coming Soon" you will be able to see who views your profile. The kicker? You can turn this option on and off, meaning that you can put yourself in stealth setting and when you look at someone's profile, you won't show up in their "who viewed me" category. I like that yahoo has given the option to turn it on or off, unlike match.com which tracks your every move and viewing. Thoughts anyone?

Hmm, interesting. I don't really see that first point at all. I click on people's profiles all the time and go, oh, no, not for me, and click off. The mere fact that I opened their profile doesn't mean I have ANY interest in them at all, so I don't think there's any reason to assume that someone has even a passing interest simply because they opened your profile. I mean, you can't SEE anything, really, unless you open the profile so all it means is that your profile came up in their search. Same with viewing someone more than once. Again, you pretty much have to open the profile to see if it's someone you've already looked at, so I don't think it means anything even if they look at you more than once--I would be like, oh, yeah, that guy and just click off.

And if they didn't contact you after viewing your profile, why would you want to contact them, anyway?

I guess I'm still not seeing what good it does you to see who's looking at you, when all that counts is whether someone's contacted you or not. For that matter, they could get rid of the view counter--who cares about that? It doesn't mean anything unless you get emails or winks.

Ok, thanks, that's interesting. I'm still not at all "sold" on the idea but I appreciate you taking the time to explain why you like it.
