Why do guys think this impresses us???

I HAVE to finally do a bit of venting about this. So let's pretend you're on your computer on _____ dating site, and you come across a few men who have great pics. And you really like their profile as well, and so you think, "okay... this has potential." And then you click to see their other photos, and they have one with a Hooters girl. Or some ex-girlfriend (obviously it's not a friend or relative) who looks like a supermodel. Or they're at some auto show or whatever and there is a bunch of bikini bunnies hanging all over him. What is that??????? Is that supposed to impress us? I even chatted with one guy who did have a photo with some gal who was gorgeous, and he actually told me that he didn't know her, but he got his picture with her when they hung out at a wedding. So... um... am I not getting it? I mean, I can see if a guy is using a great photo of himself and he blacked out the face. But I can't tell you how many photos I look at that have a guy with a beautiful ex, and I think "Well, I'm not even CLOSE to looking like that, so... moving on!" Do you think this is their way of saying, "Hey, I'm not a loser because I once had a hot girlfriend?" or how about "Yeah, I'm pretty shallow so if you don't look like this, don't bother replying?" or even better, "Yeah... incase you men out there are looking to see what the competition is like, I'm obviously the biggest stud here!"

LOL

I avoid ad’s like that.

They think (not me) that will attract more attractive women. Well, look at these beautiful women the man is friends with, what does he have that is so great, I must find out. I think it’s immature but that’s what I’ve been told by men who have done it in the past.......

I agree! It totally drives me nuts! I had this guy the other day do that...we were talking, and he INSISTED I look at his 'backstage' (I'm on lavalife). At first I thought it was because he wanted me to give him mine...but as soon as I looked at his, I knew what he was up too.

Every picture was him with either a beer or a girl (or both!) in his hand...and these girls were really young ones that wear TONS of make-up, etc. Like, what? Does that make you cool that you have hot girls around you when you're drunk? Yup...such a turn on :P

People amaze me sometimes! The best thing is that his profile is posted in the 'relationships' section, when clearly that is NOT what he's looking for (he says in his profile he's not looking for anything serious, and told me point blank that he doesn't think he could ever care enough about someone to marry them...RED FLAG!!! LOL)

It's a total turn-off. Rather than wonder why, I just say "next"...same with guys who post pictures of themselves with their cars...or just the cars themselves!

I completely agree, it is a complete turn off. There was one guy that I e-mailed and chatted with a bit and he had a pic with a woman in it, but she was average looking and his profile said it was his sister - LOL!

Hi T,

Cupcake-ism # 2459 applies here: "If you have to stand on someone else's shoulders to see over the wall, the view won't be very good"...translated,that means if a man needs to "glitz" a photo by putting fake looking females, stripper-ish girls, or beauty queens in there, then he does not think much of Himself!!! I agree--WHY would we women want to see them with other females like that?--would they like us with the Chippendale Dudes--ewwwwwwww?!

That is one thing I liked from the beginning about TM; genuine photos, recent ones, and a few with his kids...no cars (I am not a BMW dealer, ty), no other females (your sister? suuure) and none where he thinks he is Brad Pitt in a Matt Damon suit! And what is it with these in ski goggles or a motorcycle helmet? hrggghgh? Ding! Next!

Look for The Real, and you will find it!

best o luck!

truly,
Cupcake

I find it in extremely poor taste for a guy to post a picture of him with any other female....period.

IMO as a guy, its usually a shallow guy that feels the need to make himself look all so important. So yes, guys like that are trying to impress you. They are trying to protray the image that he is all that when in fact he is most likely a loser. A normal guy would post up a tasteful pic of himself, and if he were to have a female in the pic it would most likely be a good friend, or a family member.(with tasteful clothing of course) If you run across a guy that has shallow pics in his profile, just skip him no matter how good looking he is. Guys like that are so into the self its not worth the effort.
