why would they bother?

I've been trying out the online thing and I messages from men who live across the country quite often.
I don't know what to make of it. My photo isn't even up so I don't know why they'd even bother wanting to contact someone who lives three time zones away, especially when there isn't even a photo. are they just looking for a booty call when they take a business trip here? I don't know if I should take them seriously and bother responding. I'm really not one for long distance relationships with someone I don't know at all and I feel like it can just turn into a penpal relationship propelled by the idea of one day we will really meet but it never happens and just ends up breaking your heart.

I'm sure they all have different reasons...maybe some (probably most) are just bored, some are looking for booty calls in different cities, and some are hopeless romantics.
I'm not looking for another LDR, so I just delete those emails.
I suppose if someone really wowed me with their email and made a point of saying why they were emailing ME given how far apart we are, I'd consider responding, but not otherwise.

welll luv... go with your gut feeling...I think that you are on the right track...most of them without even having a look at you are looking for exactly what you described...It is always fun to call their bluff on that...You know take the wind out of their sails.
My advice is you will know when the person or situation is right for you...long distance or not...
cheers
