Witness to a date

I was just in the cafe at Barnes & Noble and a couple sat at the next table, who were obviously on the first meet for OLD. I heard the guy say something about "In my profile." I felt like I was eavesdropping so I had to leave--there weren't too many people there. I just sympathized w/ them about how awkward the first meetings are, trying to make conversation. Well, they were both nice looking, so probably no big disappointments there. lol

That's why I would be hesitant to pick certain places too close to my house cause I would be afraid of running into my ex (who lives in the same small town that I do). Now in the almost 2 yrs since our separation, I have only run into him unexpectedly once--I was leaving Barnes & Noble & he was coming in--but it would be my luck to see him if I was on a date.

That's hilarious. You would think after so much time he would pick a different venue, or at least check with his dates to see if it is a place they also frequent often.

A good coffee shop is a refuge. I would hate to have to find a new one because I kept running into dates that never materialized into anything :)

I live in a city of 750,000 so not too small. I met a guy for coffee at a small local coffee shop I suggested a few years ago. at least twice in the next 6 months, I saw him there on what looked like first meets with other women. In fact, the next time I was there with a friend, he was the first person I saw when I walked in the door. I sat with my back to him but asked my friend to keep an eye on them to see how it was going. He said the woman just sat there and the man talked and talked and talked. I guess he hadn't figure it out yet. LOL

Music,

Your post gave me deja-vu and a much-needed laugh at the end of a busy weekend. I had a similar eavesdropping experience when I was relatively new to OLD. Only I was the one being eavesdropped upon by another man.

I was on
