WOW!

I just got home from the BEST date I've ever been on, online or not. Period. I posted earlier about the guy I met this afternoon who brought his daughter along and put his hand on my butt within a few minutes of meeting him. And I was so jaded by that experience that I didn't want to go out with this other guy tonight. But wow, I am so glad I did.

We went to this trendy sushi bar. It was his idea, which is GREAT because I have bad luck with guys who don't know what to do on dates. I'm traditional and I like the guy to plan the date and to wow me. And he did! This place was all candlelit and very intimate. We sat at this tiny little table for 3 1/2 hours and talked. We had drinks and he ordered sushi. I've never tried sushi, and he knew this before the date, but I was game so he ordered some and I tried it. I hated it and nearly gagged. Normally that would be a horrifying experience on a first date, but we laughed about it. He ordered something else for me (I didn't know the menu, so I asked him to suggest something)and we ate it off the same plate with chopsticks. So cool. Oh, and when the check came I offered to pay for my portion and he wouldn't let me. That is the first time that has ever happened to me - usually the guy is more than willing to let me pay, a major irritation of mine.

The amazing thing is that this guy is not my usual type. He's cute, but not hot like the guys I usually go for. I almost didn't respond to his email from myspace because of it, plus he looked WAY too young for me, even though he's 7 years older than me - he's 36, but I swear he looks like he's in his early to mid twenties. But something told me to give him a try. And not only did we have tons in common and have similar views, I found him very very attractive. A few times during the date I found myself wishing he would kiss me...tee hee, it was great. He also has an MBA, and he is very intelligent and funny...ah crap, it's way too soon to get all swoony over him, isn't it?

At the end of the date he walked me to my car and gave me a hug. He said he had a great time and he hopes to do it again. I said "definitely" and I thanked him. I smiled the entire way home.

Okay, so if this guy ghosts I am going to be so bummed, but at least my faith in online dating is renewed. If nothing else I had a wonderful date :) It's a nice change from the bad luck that I've become accustomed to!
