Wrote a complaint to Match.com

Because of the stupid new restrictions that Match put on that you cannot even view an email from someone if you are not a paying member, I wrote a scathing complaint to them saying how horrible I thought this new feature was. I basically told them that I wanted to make sure that the person emailing me was not another 45 year-old bald, fat guy with 3 kids and no education that hadn't bothered to read my profile before shelling out the exhorbitant amount they were expecting people to pay these days. I also mentioned that I had never had much success with their site and that I would think that with all the bad publicity they've had lately that they might want to make their service a little more friendly to people rather than less. Last, I told them that I was on a message board that discussed OLD and that everyone that had already encountered this feature hated it and some those that were current members were considering dropping them all together because of this.
Whee! It was fun - even if it will not do anything, it at least made me feel better. I hid my profile for now and may see about deleting it completely. Ugh.

I doubt it'll do any good (I wrote to them complaining of some features in the past and never even got a response), but I'm glad it made you feel better ;-)!
Frankly, I hope Match goes under...they are owned by the same evil company that owns Ticketmaster and I would love to see the marketplace reject their product. But unfortunately they are pretty well-entrenched. I don't anticipate using that site again, however.

I'm sure they expect people will have negative reactions, and they've probably estimated the number of customers they'll lose versus the additional revenue they'll get from people having to sign up to read the email.
Sometimes you just gotta take a stand.
I had no idea they were affiliated with TicketMaster. GRR - even more reason to bail on them.
I wrote a nasty e-mail as well about the new e-mail restrictions. I doubt it will do any good, either, but maybe they will at least know why people have dropped their subscriptions.
I agree - I hope they go under.
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I'm taking a break for awhile then I'll probably try Yahoo.
LOL!! I quit match last week and am just picturing my regular stream of geezers adrift in a cold cruel world...
