So, I'm now brand new to Yahoo Personals and I have some ridiculous questions to ask you ladies. Please bear with me - I'm so used to CL and not the regular dating sites.
First, I need a confirmation that if I make my profile "non-searchable" that it really is non-searchable. Meaning, my face and profile won't be shown to the whole world, right? The reason why I'm making my profile non-searchable is because I do not want my co-workers to know that I'm on a dating site. I know I shouldn't be ashamed, but these people do have the mentality that it's a sign of desperation.
Also, I'm curious to know if Match has the "non-searchable" feature as well? If they do, maybe I'll sign up for that one as well. ;)
Second, if I have my photo uploaded, and I suddenly would like to have my profile without any photo, is there a way of doing that? I haven't uploaded a photo yet, so I'm curious if I could now take it down and leave the profile without a photo.
I have more questions to ask, but I'll save them as the situation arises. So I'll just leave these two questions for now.
Again, please bear with me on these questions. I'm a regular on CL and not to these sites.
Thank you for your help.

I don't know that I'd trust the non-searchable feature 100% on Yahoo. I was on YP for years and I never quite figured out exactly how that worked, because people could still see your profile even if it was non-searchable. The biggest glitch seems to be that if you contact someone or they contact you, they will be able to see your profile always, even if you later make it unsearchable.
That's one feature on Match that is better than YP, I think--if you hide your profile on Match, it truly seems to be hidden.
Yes, you can take the photo down at any time.

I found that on match there are some people who will not put their pics up because of the positions they hold -- ie. a superintendent of a school system.
though i am skeptical about these people not putting up their pics, i have mine up -- in a way i can totally understand it. i was uncomfortable doing it myself then just bit the bullet and stuck one up.
let me know what happens.
good luck
That's my impression also-- that on Match when you hide your profile no one can see it, but on Yahoo once there has been contact, people can see your profile when you hide it.
However, there are advantages to the Yahoo situation. On Match, if you e-mail someone and they want to go back to look at your profile, they can't if you have hidden it. I had one guy get really frantic about this. ("Where are you?" "Have you disappeared?") and another few guys just lose interest because I made my profile unsearchable for a week.
So I like the Yahoo set up. I got tired of being "searchable" because too many obese, unemployed, sports fans who couldn't spell were contacting me, so I am non-searchable for now. When a new "crop" of interesting men signs up, I will be searchable again.
