So tonight turned out interesting. I wasn't going to go out because I have to be up early, but today was an irritating day so I needed some microphone time. There was an old guy at the bar, as there always is, way too drunk falling off his chair. As I was leaving, I noticed he was also trying to leave..and couldn't find the door to his truck. So I went back inside and told the bartender. A couple of girls came out and one said she'd drive his truck, and I offered to bring her back. They went back inside to "figure things out" and somehow, I ended up driving the old guy's truck- and him- home while the bar owner followed us. The old guy was way far gone- incoherent conversation about cattle and Wichita the whole way. All the while, I'm so glad there's someone following us! I'd told a guy friend what was going on, so I had someone watching out for me.

I got him home and he asked for a kiss. I told him my boyfriend wouldn't like that. So he asked for a hug. I gave him one of those distant side ones, locked his truck, then gave him his keys.

So the bar owner drove me back. Young guy, I thought. Fairly nice looking. I'm thinking...hmmm...maybe my good deed will get me somewhere. Then he uses the term "we"...as in "we bought our house" and "our son". Married, damnit! So I look over, and ya know, he wasn't as good looking or young as I first thought.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the most awkward moment of the night. That was when some random guy suggested the (married) DJ and I would make pretty babies. Considering I'd make babies with him in a heartbeat if he weren't married, all I could get out was a nervous laugh!

Ahh...time to sleep and do it all again tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear about your sister. I hope they can figure out what is going on there, and get her the help she needs.

I hope she will be all right--it's good she is with family to take care of the baby.

Although it is good that she is getting help, sounds lke a tough situation overall.  Sending good thoughts to you and your family.

The squirt gun kid sounds like my nephew! He loves to look under stalls/doors for some reason. And he loves squirt guns.

CB, I'm not really sure what it was, but something told me to help this guy. I don't know why him or why last night, but I'd really like to think there was a reason.

Today was a hellish day. All hell broke loose with my baby sister last night. She's being admitted to a psychiatric hospital today. My mom is a mess, but it really is a good thing. We've known there was a problem for a long time and this will force her to find out what it could be. I'm worried about the baby. It's a long story, but I'm just afraid she'll be taken away or the dad will try to get custody and that would be bad. I'm going home tomorrow after the dust settles to watch the baby and depending on how long my sister stays, possibly bring her back with me. I have two weeks until school starts, so I may have her for that long.

It's amazing how fast things can change. Maybe that was the lesson from last night. That old guy is someone's brother, uncle, dad, son, or husband. If he had gotten into an accident, the lives of all of those people would be in an uproar like mine is today.

Poor 'ole guy ... that was so sweet of you to make sure he made it home safely.  Cattle and Wichita, huh?  I'll bet there's a good story or two in there somewhere...

So...two marrieds and a lonely, drunken cowboy...my excitement yesterday consisted of getting shot by a kid with a squirt gun inside of a women's restroom and yes, inside of the stall.  You win ;]

Good on you for taking steps and the initiative to keep a drunk off the road. Most people would have probably just shrugged their shoulders and gone on about their business.
