Annoying Friend Rant

Another annoyance is how my good friend, who was soo adamant about not getting into a relationship, not needing to date, not needing sex or wanting a man at all, the same girl who always put her friends first and her time with her girls first, is not only in a very serious relationship with an absolutely amazing guy, but she's now spending most of her time with him and clearly putting him first. We used to hang out all the time now I havent seen her in weeks. Not saying I'm blaming her for putting their love first, just find it ironic as hell.
*moan*
Well, she's been saying for weeks that we should get together just me and her and have dinner or do something up by my way together. I haven't really seen her or heard from her in 2 weeks and I email her to see if we can pick a day. I let her know that besides tonight and Friday, I'm free. She just wrote back and tells me that every night this week she's busy and she and the BF are planning dates for Sat. AND Sun. Maybe we can do something Sat. during the day.
*fuming*
And I'll tell you what else pisses me off. We had planned a road trip to Virginia Beach this weekend with all the girls. We got on it late and it looks like we can't book a hotel room. Well, before anyone can officially cancel the trip, my girl has already made weekend long plans with her man! What! This was her idea.
So now I need to find something else to do since the beach is out but NOT with her since she's already booked being with her man. All weekend? She is staying with him? You mean she misses him so much during the week that she needs to book the whole weekend too. AND they're going to SF for a whole week next.

Average temperatures? ehm, for the last two months, from about 16 to 22C TOPS, with non-stop never ending rain and wind, and a MIRACULOUSLY occasional 'sunny spells' kind of day... And that's London - don't even ask about northern parts of the UK cause it is much worse there.. Honestly, we are so so SO sick of it here!! Especially considering that the rest of Europe, countries like Italy, Spain, Greece, even France which is practically around the corner are all burning up with their 35C+ temperatures, and we here wear cardigans and never take umbrellas out of our bags! They are SAYING this weekend's going to be very warm (to us, 24-26C is VERY warm) but we'll believe it when we see it!!
OMG!!! I work in Blackfriars so literally round the corner!!
28 degrees Sunday apparently - but, like you, I'll believe it when I see it!!
Did you go to BU?
A really good friend of mine went there (she was from Queens originally) and she did a semester in London - lived in South Ken too! She was over here at the start of 2003.
I love Boston - don't be jealous!! You get lovely sunshine and good value lobster, we get moving home to your parents for 6 months while the structural damage from this "summer"'s floods is fixed!!
Yep, I did. :) Although about half of the people on the BU program didn't actually go to BU...South Ken was amazing, but we found out the hard way that what everyone had been telling us about break-ins was true, we were robbed in our last month in London while we were there (which was the most disturbing part). Other than that, though, I loved it! :) I worked at the Royal Academy of Arts magazine, which was SO much fun and still my favorite job (well, internship) I've had even now. Gallery openings, art fairs...ugh, I would give a LOT to go back...
I do love Boston and I'll always consider the city home...you're right about the lobster and the sunshine, I'll give you that....though it's supposed to be 95 (35 C) here today. TOO hot for me, especially with no AC!
How is everything going with the flooding now?
Yeah 102 try. YOUCH!
It just took me 2 hours to get home all the people driving up to NH on 93 backed up onto 495 so it took me longer to get home than normal. GRRRRRR it was 102 according to the temp gauge on my car. and the AC in my car didn't seem to help, my feet were frying and I was so afraid my car was going to overheat. YUCK!

Deirdre
Did I read right?
No, no, it was 95 and humid...it was 80/85 later at night when I went out for a walk. :) Saturday I was thinking about how I just couldn't live in the south, but then I thought to myself, COULD I if the only time I had to be in the heat was walking from air-conditioned building to air-conditioned building? Probably. It just doesn't get to be in the 90's and humid enough here for me to pay that much more on my electric bill, haha.
I do have New England blood, though...but it gets me through the consistent 20-something degree winter weather. :)
Smile,
Deirdre
