Any Ideas?

On Friday I am attending a Halloween Party and I am planning to do some mingling. I know the routine, I think, but it is when I have to do it over and over again that mingling becomes dull and exhausting. Since I do want to put myself out there, what can I do to make it less dull? What other tips can you guys give me?

I find that if I need to do a lot of mingling, I have to sort of step outside of myself.
Use your costume to your advantage. Play a part, standout and be a conversation piece. You can be anything you want in costume. Pay attention to the other costumes and find something to say about it as a ice breaker.
If you want to practice here, I'm going as a puck bunny this year for Halloween.

Thanks for practicing with me. Now do you mean a female hockey fan or, although I never thought of you like this, a puck "slut"? If you mean the former, I may ask, "What do you like about hockey?" or make a comment that so many players are without teeth. Actually I know nothing about hockey, but if I do, I can ask you a simple trivia as well.
Since, like Shy said, I will never see most of the people again, and since I am not a party-guy anyway, I ask myself "What's the purpose?" But the fact that I have an established goal, mingling, does take some pressure off.... By the way, I will be coming straight from work and I will not bring change. Instead, I am going to wear a Dr. Seuss hat and paint my face. Also, I am bringing a camera. Complimenting on the costume and asking for a picture seem like a nice way to start.
Well in the traditional sense a a puck bunny is a jersey chaser type of person that is there just for the men in the crowd or the guys on the ice. My costume is to make fun of those girls (maaan, they are so damn annoying!!) because I am a true hockey fan. My costume would be a jersey, a skirt, heels, heavy makeup, lots of beads, a players name and number and teased hair (honest to god they look like this too). And rabbit ears to portray the "bunny."
I like your idea of approaching me, with trivia or something clever about hockey players. You could ask me if I'm a true fan of the game. If you didnt know anything about something, you could ask...you could ask me what I know about the sport, who my favorite players are, who my team is...etc etc. If you find out I'm not a true fan, you could ask why I find hockey players appealing...etc etc.
Now you're Dr. Seuss, so I would ask what your favorite Dr. Seuss book is and why. If I wanted to flirt, I would probably touch your hat. I would probably want a picture. Thats a good idea to have a camera.
Does that help??
