Well, beyond the obvious, ie someone respectful, kind, etc....I really just don't have specific standards, which I know sounds like a lot of BS, but it's mostly true. I prefer men I date to be intelligent (only because I am and that's what I relate to) and like sports (again, because I do), but I'd just want a guy I date to be someone I'm attracted to and relate to...that intangible "I could talk to him forever and it'd feel like 15 minutes" thing....perhaps that's why I don't date all that often, but...c'est la vie, I don't really care at this point...which is far more liberating than I ever could have imagined. :)

Love this post!

I want a man who has integrity in any situation. I want a man who is patient and understands that marriage is work and not always easy or fun. I want a man who is respectful and even-keeled.

What I do not want and will not put up with is a man who is not independant, needy men drive me insane. I do not want a man who belittles women or is stuck on the idea of traditional gender roles. I do not want a man who is insecure about himself and therefore jealous and controlling. I am not hung-up on looks but bad teeth are a complete turn-off.

I want an honest guy. I can't handle liars in any circumstance.

I don't want an emotional vampire. It can't be all about you or its not a relationship. If he really needs to talk about himself all the time, then he needs to buy a mirror or a cat.

I think my wants are simple. I want a man that is as crazy about me as I am him. One that will be nmy best friend as well as a lover and will want to interwine our lives and grow together.

I don't want a commitmentphobe, the emotionally unavailable or a man that doesn't appreciate women.

I am not trying to start anything here I swear - but sometimes I read these posts and think... are these things realistic?

Albeit - most of the time the things posted are COMPLETELY realistic - someone who is honest and kind and good! I get those things! But really...
"Better measure to my standards, better love every flaw, every freckle, every curve, and he better love ME for ME and nothing less or he can kiss the curb!!!"

My man loves me for me and I often think he's a fool for doing so... but I think expecting someone to love every little thing about you... wow! Will you love EVERY thing about him? His snoring? His leg hairs in your bed? The way he leaves things all over the house when he gets them out and doesn't put them back? The way he leaves things in his pockets when he starts the laundry and you open the dryer to find a kleenex shredded to bits all over the clothes? Okay, those were some of my own little things! ROTFL

But seriously - I once read something that went (if I don't slaughter this):
"I finally found the Perfect man, he's everything I've been looking for - kind, generous, loving, romantic and very easy on the eyes! Turns out... he was looking for the perfect woman!"

Look for the man of your dreams but don't get caught up in the Shania-like fantasy man!

Hey good for you. I like to keep my opitions open and be optimistic about finding someone, but not too optimistic that it would just be a hard ache in the end for both of us.

Sounds good to me. I wouldn't want a needy man or at least one whose too need. I him to need me, but not like a mom kind of way.
