As some of you know, I'm now working part time as a hostess at the bar/club/restaurant I hang out and go line dancing/see cover bands at. Well, it's known to be a little slow on some nights, and Mondays are VERY slow. To give you an example, tonight, between 5 PM and when I finished at 8:30, I sat three parties.
So, needless to say, the hostesses have a bit of free time on their hands on slow nights. There's only so much cleaning and tidying up you can do. So, there's a stack of books in the little utility/supply/coat closet.
I've been reading this hilarious book called "Slightly Settled" by Wendy Markham. It's the second book in a series, but this is the only one I've read.
It's your typical run-of-the-mill "fluff read" about a single woman in NYC who has just gotten out of a bad relationship and meets a new guy at a company Christmas party, and a mutual attraction ensues. It's just so FUNNY - the way the book is written makes me feel like I KNOW the characters and their personalities. There were some parts that had me literally laughing out loud. And I see so much of myself on the main character!
Anyway, it's an easy read - I am almost done with the book and this is only the second night I've been reading it. I can't wait to see how it ends! (And there are two sequels after it). I just felt compelled to share it with my Single Life cronies. :)

I think I have that one sitting on my bookshelf, or another one of hers in that series, haven't read it yet though, I'll have to check it out!
I'm not sure how I feel about being called a "cronie." ;)
Sounds like a fun read - thanks for the tip. I'm taking a vacation soon, so that might be a good airplane book.
