Are we eating or not?

I have this date tonight. When he asked me out he asked to go for drinks. When we choosing a place he said for one of the places that they have good food. We aren't going to the place with the good food but we are going to a bar/restaurant. We are meeting at 6:30. Are we getting dinner or should I eat before I go. I don't want to be rude and ask. I was going to eat a little something before I went so I wasn't starving in case we didn't eat. I hate dating.

I would assume that you're not eating--maybe some appetizers but I wouldn't count on it. So I think your plan to eat a little something beforehand is a good one.

I'd eat a little something.

I'm thinking it's possible that he doesn't want to come on too strong by suggesting dinner. If this is your first date, maybe he's waiting to see how it will go and if all is going well during drinks, he'll ask you to dinner. Or maybe it will be a drinks and appetizer thing.

Good luck!

I would eat a little something, like you said, just so you're not starving, but save a little bit of room for if you and he decide to grab a bite.

What usually happens is that you meet for drinks and if it's going well you progress into dinner.

I would maybe eat some cheese and crackers so you aren't famished or maybe get some appetizers while you are getting your drinks but no I wouldn't have a meal before you meet him because you could meet him, think he's a tool and be out of there by 7.

I've had guys do this as well - "let's meet for a drink" has, in one instance, become at the last minute "let's have a picnic in the park." Um, no, I agreed to a drink - a picnic is a totally different ball of wax. Guys need to get better about communicating their plans. :)

In this case, I'd assume it's drinks - eat a little something beforehand and then maybe save room for an appetizer in case he hasn't eaten.
