Danger of being single!!

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts the other day. I wasn't able to stay on the computer too long - my head was too sore. Yesterday, I finally started feeling a little better...but I was TOO weak to go to the store for supplies. I tried once...but didn't make it. On my second attempt, I ran into my neighbours. They asked me what was wrong...apparently I had large red blotches all over my face. Luckily, they offered to go to the store for me. Phew. Unfortunately, the water they bought me was 4 litres...so it took me half an hour to get it open & pour myself a glass...seeing how I was too weak to even stand up, let alone lift a jug that big!!

It all made me realize how much I missed having someone else in the house. I really would have liked to have someone here taking care of me. At one point, I was worried what would happen if I slipped into unconciousness...how long would it take for someone to notice? Probably quite a while...

A shaken, weak...Go.

I know how you feel. I recently went through about 2 weeks of dealing with an ovarian cyst that eventually burst on me (this was when I disappeared from the board for a while). I was in a lot of pain and was heavily medicated. I could hardly move, let alone take care of myself. I really wished I had someone to take care of me then. When I'm sick I really feel like I need someone there.

I'm glad you're starting to feel better. I hope you're fully healthy again soon!

I'm about to go through the same thing, albeit scheduled. My first knee surgery is Dec 10, and right now I'm trying to find someone to come over and feed/water my 10 cats, scoop their litter boxes, and take out the trash. Since I'll be in an immobilizer after cutting, I can get about OK, but I really don't want to chance any infections. So I'm looking to pay someone to come over for about 10 days.

I did this in the past before my ill-fated marriage. Someone from my vet's office (which was then 2 blocks from my home) came over, did the food and box thing, I paid him (half in advance, the other half upon completion), and that was that.

BTW, while married, I also had ankle surgery last Dec to repair damage from an accident--and XH scooped the boxes ONCE. I did it the rest of the time--so even "having someone around" can be no guarantee of anything...

Have you looked into petsitting services? Or, since it sounds like you may be home, perhaps you can find a neighborhood kid to help you out. I hope your recovery goes smoothly.

Hi Ash !!

I know this probably sounds strange but if you live anywhere near me, Ft Worth Texas, I'd be more than happy to help with cat care. I have 3 cats !

Have you seen a doctor? You don't sound well at all.
