Congrats on the running Shywon. Have you thought about signing up for a short race, maybe a 5K? It can help keep you motivated to stay running if you know you have an event coming up in a couple of months.
A mile is excellent, and the walk/run is a great way to get burn! That's what you want.
Sorry - I'm a big runner and get excited when anyone does it! LOL

Absolutely not.
I have no desire to be competitive.

It's not so competitive. I ran a bunch of 5 K's back when and even a marathon . .belive me, I wasn't "competitive". My only goal was to keep it at around 8 minuet miles or so . .. LoL That is slow!
It is more of a social event and a challenge to to cover a little more distance than on a normal daily run. I have a friend into triathlons right now and she isn't all that fast . .she just feels good every time she is able to finish one. (-: Unlike basket ball or foot ball or whatever, running is very personal and no one cares if you are 6th or 60th across the finish line but you. ((-:

Oldjarhead -
You hit the nail on your head with your post. I didn't suggest it to Shywon as a competition thing - but as a way to keep motivated and have a little fun with it. BTW - 8 minute mile is pretty

In defense of Shy, I am exactly the same way when it comes to exercise.
<< I hate it, every single minute of it.

I also hate squash, cooked peas, and apple pie.
Because people who aren't fit are a burden to the health system. They drone on about their weight, their this and their that.
