Last night I accidentally came across that show on ABC called "How To Get The Guy" (or something like that).

"One has trouble getting asked out period (because she's shy), one isn't serious about dating, one sticks only within her circle, and another just doesn't seem to be interested in anyone. They are all fairly attractive."

I am all of the above. Hmmm, now I know why I am still single...

I, of course, watched it. Since I am a TV addict and all. I was trying to identify with the girls and determine which one I am more like. I definitely have symptoms of the partier - I know that I need to get more serious about dating, though I have never discussed sour candies on a date. I have some of the same issues as Ann and definitely am almost as picky as the attorney. The crunchy yoga instructor was the only one I did not relate to at all.

I definitely related to Anne right away.

I think the thing that I relate to Anne with is her sense of humor. And I absolutely adored that guy she had the first date with. He was quite funny and cute. I can see you relating to Anne too.

Crunchy - you know - like granola.

Yeah...I can see how you'd relate to her now.

I love big noses and slightly crooked or just off center noses. And I really like big lips too, though not Jimmy Walker big.

I'm soo Anne too! I was so excited when she got her good night kiss and I loved the guy! He's what I'm looking for.

I was inspired by the show so I joined a male co-worker and his friend for lunch...and of course his friend was a complete immature putz who was a jerk to me...discouraging but you'll have this I guess! Just gotta 'stay in the game' cause one jerk in the outfield scratching himself and cursing shouldn't make you want to give up all together.

I got sucked into this show as well, and I'm definitely an Anne. The bookstore scene got me -- I've actually walked away from guys who I knew were coming up to talk to me in the bookstore because I got too nervous. Standing there and making eye contact for four whole seconds sounds excruciating -- but it's my new goal.

I love the invading his space idea-- I tried that on the street yesterday and it worked pretty well.

Hi - good to see you too, Shy.

Yeah - it does feel unnatural. I'm good at making eye contact and smiling - but the eye contact lasts for maybe a second and then I look down. (I was testing this out today over lunch).

I was thinking, though... if eye guy locked eyes with me for four seconds, it would get my blood going. So, maybe it has the same effect on them. Worth the 4 seconds of unnaturalness, right? I think it just takes practice - and telling yourself that you're hot and amazing and why wouldn't he want you looking? Ha ha. I'll let you know when I succeed at it.
