I do the same thing! But I get myself scared when I am driving my car home at night alone. I always scare myself thinking someone is in my back seat. I refuse to watch scary shows/movies while alone, b/c I know I will be too scared to even use the restroom, then I feel like a 7 year old little girl when I'm too scared to go to bed b/c something might grab my feet when I get into bed!!!! Ha ha!
Haha, yup, I've been finding that since i've been living alone and boyfriendless I've been watching less scary movies than usual. In fact, I plain out avoid renting them sometimes- just cause I know that I'm bound to get scared and have no big strong man to protect me. Silly, but true. Last time I watched a scary movie I was lying in bed thinking of what on or in my nightstand i could use as a weapon.
I keep a pair of scissors in my bed- I also have a heavy flashlight that I could use to clobber somebody with. I want to get a gun - but guns are kind of scary to me so I keep putting it off. I was at my grandmas one day and she has a couple of guns and we had them out looking at them and it was a creepy feeling just holding one in my hand - I guess I was afraid it would go off by accident. Scary movies don't scare me that much, actually- just the noises that I hear after I go to bed scare me. I often do feel scared at night because cats will come and scratch on the windowpane - and one night a cat reached up his paws and was jiggling my front door knob, but I didn't know it was a cat and it scared me to death. I don't know why cats are so attracted to my house - but they are constantly in my back yard and front yard, and always trying to run inside. My neighbor told me he thought they liked my house because it's quiet. Iri
I use to get scared when I lived at home - in my mom's house. I guess I feel like if something were to happen in my apartment there are people around that would hear... in the house it was always like... if someone is attacking me... no one is going to hear me screaming! :(
Now it's rare that I spook myself in my apartment but occasionally. Course I've tried to go to bed with my patio door open and enjoy the cooler air - but I end up getting up and closing it because even though I'm on the second floor I still don't feel safe leaving it open! :(
I'm laughing because it's happened to me too many times to count...nothing on tv and despite my better judgement, I watch something creepy...you know, you get sucked in & have to find out what happens. Then I have to turn out the lights & go to bed...turn the lights back on, turn them off, leave the tv on in my room (on the weather channel - pretty safe).
rarely!

I'm with you on that one!!
I still sleep with a night light, and I don't see that changing- ever.
