Doctor's appointment Wednesday

It was her first available. Sometimes I can get in right away, and that's what I was hoping for but it didn't happen. Whatever this thing is, it's getting more and more painful. Bigger, too. Now it's red with bruising around the perimeter. I'm hoping whatever it is, she can make the pain go away quickly.

I asked our school nurse today if she knew any tricks to make it hurt less because the pain is killing me. She said I needed to talk to our secretary because she gets these lumps all the time and they are ingrown hairs! I showed her, and she thinks it's the same as what she gets. I never imagined an ingrown hair could start so deep and grow to be the size of a grape. If that's what it is, there's a massive hair ball in there!! I got some sort of salve tonight that's supposed to help with pain. Hopefully it does. I'm still undecided on if I should try to run. Just walking hurts, but it might be okay with gauze on it.

Have you tried applying a warm hot compress?  Sometimes that can draw it to a head, at least that's what I'm told.  And there is a salve the pharmacist has but you have to ask for it at the counter....off to google!

Yes, I've tried a warm compress. It helps with the pain a bit, but that's it. The stuff I put on it is Prids Drawing Salve. The reviews on amazon make it seem like a miracle drug, so I'm hoping that by morning I'll be able to move my arm without pain. It's been an hour and a half since I applied it and it actually hurts worse! Hopefully that means its doing something. I have it covered in gauze. Ever try to put a gauze bandage in your armpit alone? It's not easy!

Good lawd honey child, the size of a grape!?  No wonder that sucker hurts!?  I've had some the size of a pea but that is large.   Thank goodness tomorrow is Wednesday.  Maybe if it's something superficial, she can drain it for you.  I hope so - good luck!

She said it was a cyst from an infected hair follicle. She cut it open and drained it and squeezed and squeezed like crazy. It hurt like HELL. She prescribed antibiotics and pain pills. Unfortunately, the pharmacy was out of the pain pills until tomorrow. I'm hoping I can tough it out. If not, I might be running all over the city in search of a pharmacy that does have them in stock.

I wondered if it could be a subaceous cyst.  I have a few trichilemmal cycts on my scalp.   Thank goodness they are covered with hair.  At some point, I'd like to have them removed.  They are hereditary.  Anyway, my niece was here and bored one day.  She found some videos on youtube of people "draining" subaceous cysts (disgusting).  She said:  "I know how to get rid of those bumps on your head.  All I need is a sterile syringe."  I think she was only around ten at the time, LOL.

I'm glad it wasn't serious and hope the pain eases up soon (or you find a fully stocked pharmacy)!

Shywon,

So glad to hear it has been taken care of. So sorry you have to go thru this pain. I hope it feels better tomorrow. Would ice or heat help with the pain?
