(Where IS everybody this weekend?!?!?
Who are Matthew and Mary?
My sister's girls had a long weekend due to President's Day so they were with me until last night.
I was wondering the same then I watched War of the Worlds.
Marina, I love Downton Abbey! All those British costume dramas and such are really to my liking. :smileyhappy: Finally, Matthew and Mary! Yes, I want them to be happy. But I didn´t cry, which is a bit strange - I find such stories very moving. My favourites in addition to those two are Lady Sybil and
Finally, a kindred spirit!
Thanks Marina, likewise! Poor Daisy. I pity her, being persuaded (Ah, Persuasion by Jane Austen!) to marry Wiliam without loving him because he was going to war... Yes, that will be exciting. I hope to see a further development of Edith too.
Yes! Bleak House is a classic, seen it a few times. By Dickens, I love "Our mutual friend"
I also loved all of those!
No, I have not seen that. Thanks for the tip! It started in the 80s for me too (or, more likely, with the re-run some years later when I as in my teens), with Patrick Swayzee in the American "North and South". :smileyhappy: Oh, and "Middlemarch". That´s a good one too! I also love things like "Cranford" (also Gaskell) and "Lark rise to Candleford".
I didn't like Cranford, but I've enjoyed the others you've mentioned.
