I didn't like Cranford, but I've enjoyed the others you've mentioned.

No, I have not seen that. Thanks for the tip! It started in the 80s for me too (or, more likely, with the re-run some years later when I as in my teens), with Patrick Swayzee in the American "North and South". :smileyhappy: Oh, and "Middlemarch". That´s a good one too! I also love things like "Cranford" (also Gaskell) and "Lark rise to Candleford".

Marina, I love Downton Abbey! All those British costume dramas and such are really to my liking. :smileyhappy: Finally, Matthew and Mary! Yes, I want them to be happy. But I didn´t cry, which is a bit strange - I find such stories very moving. My favourites in addition to those two are Lady Sybil and
