My girl friends and I are going to get together and throw a party this Saturday. We're getting together to have some fun at home and forget about being single. We don't usually drink, so do any of you have any ideas for some drinks we should get or make? I'm looking for drinks where you can't really taste the alcohol, but will be enough to loosen everyone up. Ideas for movies (comedies) we should rent or buy would also be appreciated!

If you don't typically drink or like the taste of alcohol go with something like Arbor Mist. It's inexpensive, only 5% alcohol and is yummy! 750ml runs about $5, the larger ones run $9 or 10? Check the Arbor Mist website for flavors and more info.

I've been wanting to try Peels, I keep seeing ads in magazine and they look good too...sounds similar to Arbor Mist however I haven't seen it in the stores yet (haven't looked much either though).

I've always found mixing drinks to be a pain, I usually stick with vanilla vodka and rootbeer, or something equally simple. But vodka tastes like vodka...so you may not like that as much.

Thanks for the reply! I had green apple vodka by itself once and now I associate the smell of green apples to that horrible taste. I mixed it with mountain dew so it was bearable, but now just the smell of green apples makes my stomach turn. I'll try the vanilla vodka and rootbeer. If there's enough soda I'll be okay. lol I'll try the other things, too. Do you have any other suggestions? There's going to be about 10 or so of us so I need some variety. What's especially good mixed with cola?

Long Island Teas.

Very very potent but you cant taste the booze (amazing considering how much booze there is in the drink). Very good too. I would recommend only drinking one or two, 8 or 12 oz glasses. Anymore than that and you WILL be drunk (unless you have a ridiculous high tolerance). I've had 3 before in one night and I had one of the worst headaches ever the next day. Two is the limit on these puppies, but they are really good and will "loosen everybody up."

1 shot vodka
1 shot tequila
1 shot rum
1 shot gin
1 shot triple sec
1 1/2 shots parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®
Optional flavoring like strawberry, raspberry or other

Wine is a good option too. If you have a group of people over and share a few bottles, everybody might get one or two glasses (depending on how many bottles..a standard bottle has about 4 glasses worth of wine).

If you're a beginner drinker, Schnapps and sprite...any flavor schnapps is pretty good. Vodka and cranberry juice is great, vodka sunrises, vodka sours, amaretto sours. Bacardi Raz or Barcardi O3. Baileys and Kaluha with milk or vodka (think mudslides or chocolate martinis).

The above drinks I have if I want to find something other than my "usual." I usually stick with either red wine or Crown & 7up or Crown & coke. Crown Royale is a whiskey...and usually an acquired taste for some people.

You can make a bowl of punch. You can pretty much make your own one up but if you dont want too strong a one I would suggest making the following which is delicious.

1 fluid ounce lemon juice
2 fluid ounces vodka
4 fluid ounces cranberry juice
3 1/2 fluid ounces ginger ale

Pour it into a tall glass over ice and serve.

If not a huge jug of Pimms and Lemonade. You just add mint, apple, strawberries etc and it tastes gorgeous and not that strong either.

Try Parrot Bay Rum with Hawain Punch mixed in a blender with ice. It is very good and you can't taste the alcohol. Maybe watch Scary Movie 1-4 or something that is funny in every scene that you don't have to keep up with a plot because obviously that many women and there will be talking....Princess

Jose Cuervo Golden Margarita is very good. All you have to do is chill and serve
Baileys Irish Cream is also good. You can mix it or just enjoy it as is.
Bacardi has premixed drinks that are really good too. They have this one called Hurricane that I love.

Sounds like it's going to be a fun party. Chocolate martinis are very yummy and fun...especially served in nice martini glasses...so girly! Mix Godiva chocolate liquor with vanilla or regular flavored vodka, add cream or milk, shake in a martini shaker(milk/cream are optional...makes it creamier) garnish with whipped cream if you want, they're delicious!

Other good ones, Captain Morgan spiced rum with coke and lime, or amaretto mixed with seltzer water and garnished with cherries, and of course, sangria.

For movies, some of my favorite comedies=Office Space, The Sure Thing, Better Off Dead, Zoolander, and Summer School. Enjoy yourself, hope the party is great!
