Ever have periods in your life where....

...NOTHING seems to be working out right??? I graduated from school five years ago and have since entered the "adult world"...and ever since that time it seems nothing in my life has gone right! The one guy I loved basically ended up leaving me, I hate my job and my attempts to find another more fulfilling job have been unsuccessful. All my friends have gotten married and are hardly available for fun times anymore...and the one bright spot, my new condo...well my developer ended up screwing me over and now the place has lots tons of market value and I will likely lose a large amount of money on the whole deal. Why can't just one thing go smoothly? I feel like I've had some kind of curse following me for the last five years...has anyone else ever been in this position? Any suggestions for how to improve things? Honestly I feel like I'm a failure as an "adult"...I always did well in school adn things came so easily and now it seems like nothing ever works out right!

I have felt like this, especially in my twenties... I think those of us who had it easy earlier in our lives, end up having to "grow up" later. But even so, your twenties are about growing up and learning. At the age of twenty-five is when "reality" of adulthood sunk in for me. In the past five years( I am now thirty) I had to deal with heart breaks that shakes you to your core, broken off friendships with those who were not good friends to begin with, and two suicides ( one was my grandfather). So you might feel like you are being cursed, but you're not. You're just gowing up and it really isn't easy. The real world is not easy and it will get better. Everyone has a period in their life where it seems like one bad thing after another happens to you. But we have all been there and lived through it. It's almost like the world is forcing you to grow up and learn. Well, that's my take on it. Anyway, your thirties will be awesome because you have learned a little about life and you know more about who you are. Don't give up faith.
One thing helped for me and that was making a change in my life. For me it was deciding to go back to school and change my career. I am in grad school to become a clinical counselor and it really has made a huge difference in my life. It's almost like I am more happier, therefore I am making all the right choices for myself. Because I was honest with myself, things started to fall into place. So if there is anything out there that might intrest you, but you have been too scared to make that change, I say go for it!!!! Good luck!
Thanks..its good to know I'm not the only one feeling this way. I did actually apply to go back and get my MBA and am now waiting for the agonizing decision...its likely I won't get in though as the schools I applied to are extremely competitive, so I need to have a back-up plan...I just can't imagine draggin myself to this job for another year. A lthough it pays extremely well, I'm freaking miserable!!!
