Every time I forget about him, he reappears

I first met this guy G maybe around 1999 on OLD.  We went out a couple of times, it was ok, but he seemed to work a lot and then I met 2nd DH so I kind of forgot about him.  After I was married (so maybe around 2004 or so) G hired me to do some legal work for him, so he knew I was married at that time.  Another time, I remember he referred a friend for a divorce.  Didn't see him for years until about 2 yrs ago, after I was divorced--again he referred a friend to me for a divorce and I was also doing some legal work for him too--it was all over the phone/email so we never saw each other in person.  I suggested that maybe he could drop by some time to meet for lunch if he was around--we ended up having dinner together (he paid).  I thought we had a good time at dinner, very easy to have conversation--it seemed like he enjoyed it too.  He said he'd call me again for lunch--never happened.  I actually would be fine not dating him and just being friends and going out every once in a while for dinner or hang out.  He's a workaholic and I think it would be too hard to have a relationship w/ him, but I never got a chance to convey that message since we never met up again.  So a while later, I decide to go on EHarmony--guess who one of my first matches is!  I wrote him a little note like "isn't this funny?" because it'snot like you can pretend that you didn't see the person's picture or didn't recognize it--he didn't even write back.  I was mad and just figured ok, I'll never see him again, we won't be friends and I'll just forget about him totally.  I really hadn't thought much about him until today when he sends me an invitation to connect on Linkedin.  What?  So yes, I know it's a business site and not even as friendly or personal as Facebook so I am not thinking that he wants to be friends but he's obviously not avoiding me for life either.  Someday I expect to get a call from him to evict a tenant or to do another friend's divorce & he'll act like it's just normal to call me after a few years and it will be like we never went out to dinner or anything.

Now this guy is middle aged and never been married so there's probably a reason for that that he is avoiding relationships, yet if he's on OLD, he obviously wants to date.  I just wish I could get a guy like this and say "do you know how lucky you would be to have me?"  lol  I mean we obviously get along quite well, we're both Italian, so similar family backgrounds, he's a couple of years younger than me, he doesn't live too far away--he has money, always a plus--and I would put up with the fact that he is NOT GOOD LOOKING!  How many women does he think are going to get past that fact to get to know him on OLD and not be superficial?  I don't even remember now why I took a chance on him on OLD--maybe he didn't have a picture?  Oh well, what can you do?  His loss.

Ha. It's a long story but I am about to contact a woman I last contacted in April of 2010. I make contact with her every two to three years to keep her from forgetting me.

I don't think this guy is being noncommittal I think he's treating you like a friend because that's all he wants. He sends work your way, gets in touch here and there, wants to network on linkedin, is nice to you..... yep all things friends do. I think he didn't respond to you on eharmony because you guys had already tried dating in the past and something was missing on his end, who know/who cares what. He probably figured it was better to say nothing so as not to open the door to the "well why not me?" conversation that so many women start with men.

You're so funny--you know, though, how you have your guy friend who you can hang around with when you want some company?  That would be fine with me.  But as I said, I never even got a chance to talk about that w/ him.  If we ever were together again, I could say "I know you're a busy guy, but we could hang out some times and it doesn't mean that we have to be in a relationship."  But whatever.

Well, this week I had a middle eastern man contact me on a dating site--I have nothing against Middle Eastern men--I had a bunch of friends from high school (all related to each other) who were Lebanese-American and they were good looking & all turned out to be doctors & lawyers.  Anyway this guy contacted me and could not even spell How are you?  It was like "hewaryou?"  All one word and then he said "mem" which I think was supposed to be "maam"--so I guess that's the kind of guy I attract--an illiterate foreigner--oh yes, he was short and his occupation was listed as "driver"--of what, I don't know--limo?  bus?  taxi?  When some guys see I am a lawyer I guess they are under the illusion that I make a lot of money--I wish--so I tend to get guys who are in low paying occupations who seem to need money.  Oh I know where we could go--back to the Bahamas.  I was very popular with the guys there who worked on the beach renting the jet skis, and it's a beautiful country, nice & warm now too.  lol

Geee. I hate when that happens...

No; I always find for one reason or another men come and go as they say just like a bus.. I am starting to really believe that.. I mean when I was much younger I would have a boyfriend and then he would break up with me and then be gone for awhile and then he would try and find me again and want to get back together.. At that point I would be with someone else.. It seems its a man pattern.. Hey; Men on the board is it?????????????

I do feel that I really believe what is wrong with alot of men (not all) is that they are okay wait for it.. NON COMMITTAL... they dont want to bother and make a committment and not even to dinner.. This is what makes me nuts just like you Music.. I mean its not like we want to get married or move in or have this crazy torrid love affair and live  happily ever after. We just want to have lunch or dinner and have some fun.. Geeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......... Dont men know that by now????

I know this for a fact because a few guys I have known  in the past would friend me and hang out but when it came to a real date they got scared and ran away................

Like I said its tough to find the ones who want committment or even a date or to see a movie or whatever.. I wonder where those guys are as they must be around somewhere.. Maybe not in this country .. You know like the men go to other countries and find subservant woman then we as women should be able to find men who want us in other countries.. So let me know when we can get our passports and lets go okay??? I am ready.. Which country would you like??????????? I have to google this and see where the men would love us just the way we are..(lol)...........

Once again there is someone out there for us but where/?? We either have to wait for them to find us or we have to go out and find them.. Tall order I know...
