My dear girlfriend moved to Florida two weeks ago and left her second husband (of 8 years) here in CA alone.

I don't think compromise is a terrible thing, as long as it goes both ways and it's not always the wife who is giving in to what the DH wants--that's not compromise (and for our guys, I realize it could go the other way too).

I'm with music. I compromise all the time. At work. With friends. With family. Anyone who doesn't probably doesn't get along with many people.

I am the same as Shy, never been married but definitely one who compromises all the time. I think I won't settle for someone but that's different from the act of compromising. I'll say that I probably compromised too much with guys who weren't right for me and wasted a lot of valuable time, but ultimately didn't settle.

Yes, I see your points. I compromise with friends, family, clients, and most of all my daughter.

Funny you bring this up because I compromise easily and I usually wind up with guys who don't even seem to know what the word means. It's just not my cup of tea. There are going to be plenty of times when we don't see eye to eye and I certainly want someone who is willing to meet me in the middle so that most of our needs are met.

There's an article referred to on the OnLine Dating board that's on IVillage--15 ways to get and keep a boyfriend or something like that (look at the bottom part of the board).
