I'm interested in expanding my music repertoire. What are your favorite bands, cds, musicians, etc? Inquiring minds want to know...

I really, really don't think you'll like what I like, but I'll tell you anyway.

The last CD I bought was Gretchen Wilson (she sings Redneck Woman, I song I know you hate).

I have fairly wide-ranging tastes. For example, in the last month or so, I've listened to the following CDs from my collection: Franz Ferdinand, the latest from Dave Matthews, the latest from Ani DiFranco, Lay It Down by Cowboy Junkies (my favorite of all their CDs), a Billie Holiday compilation, the soundtrack from the show Cavalia, and some old Stevie Wonder (Songs in the Key of Life and Talking Book). I also want to get the new CD from Coldplay as I really like their first 2 CDs.

Some of my "alltime" favorites (in addition to some of those noted above) are Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson, David Byrne/Talking Heads and U-2. Also a local Seattle band called Maktub, plus jazz greats like Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

Well, I've always liked bands like Creed, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam, but then I got heavier and weirder. I listen to System of a Down a lot, Tool, Godsmack, Linkin Park, Limp Biskit, Alice in Chains, to name a few. But I also like trip hop bands like Porteshead and Poe.

I also plan to get the new Coldplay CD soon. I love them!

Has anyone heard of or heard the CD of Patrick Park? I'm also thinking about getting his CD and maybe one by Rachel Yamagata. Any thoughts there? What about Gem? What about Imogen Heap?

My music tastes run the gamut from a lot of jazz to a little bit (a very TINY bit) of country. My favorite music of all time includes: Abba, Aerosmith, Queen, INXS, Def Lepard, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Chicago, Black Sabbath, Ray Charles, Aimee Mann, Rufus Wainwright, Guns-n-Roses, Soundgarden, Indigo Girls, Jane Monheit, Norah Jones, Elvis Presley (gospel), Thelonious Monk, Diana Krall, Elton John, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Martina McBride (I think she has a wonderful voice but I think she picks some bad songs), most classical and a handful of cool French bands. I'm sure I forgot some but that's a sampling. Good stuff!

I think his name is Jack Johnson. I like that song too and come to think of it, I haven't listened to it in ages! Might try to find it. :)

No, that's Jack Johnson. Joe Jackson is one of the punk/new wave guys from the late 70s/early 80s. Songs like "Is She Really Going Out with Him" and "Stepping Out". I'm feeling officially old ;-) (although I do have that Jack Johnson CD as well)!

The rest of that Franz Ferdinand CD is very good also.
